Y.A. Tittle was a professional football player who, as quarterback for the New York Giants, led the team to to three consecutive NFL championship games in the early 1960s.

He started his football career at Louisiana State University and went on to play 17 seasons of pro football, including time with the Baltimore Colts and 10 years with the San Francisco 49ers.

Tittle also made appearances on the television programs To Tell the Truth, The Ed Sullivan Show, What’s My Line? and The Match Game. Additionally, he appeared briefly in the 1999 movie Any Given Sunday, playing a coach.

In 1963, Tittle was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

He died October 8, 2017, in Stanford, California. He was 90.
