Terence Winter is the co-creator, head writer and executive producer of HBO’s drama series Vinyl. Prior to Vinyl, Winter created, wrote and executive produced HBO's award winning Boardwalk Empire. Prior to that, he was a writer and executive producer of HBO’s The Sopranos, for which he was honored with four Emmy awards, as well as three Writers Guild Awards.

Before joining The Sopranos, Winter had written and produced an eclectic group of television series, including The Great Defender, Xena: Warrior Princess, Sister, Sister and Eddie Murphy’s The PJs. In 2014, he was nominated for an Academy Award for his screenplay for The Wolf of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

A native of Brooklyn, Winter received a B.A. from New York University in 1984 and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1988.
