Jack R. Crosby was a cable television pioneer who also served on the boards at Imagine Entertainment, Orion Pictures and Propaganda Films.

Crosby founded or co-founded companies that ultimately grew into the cable giants Cox Communications and Times Mirror (Time Warner). He also helped develop the broadcaster now known as Univision.

Additionally, Crosby provided consultation services to West Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, to develop cable TV in those countries, and constructed some of the first European cable systems in Switzerland, Mexico and Argentina.

Crosby died December 30, 2016, in Austin, Texas. He was 90.
