Documentary Programming

Requirements for membership in the Documentary Programming Peer Group

Please note that requirements for credits, number of programs, number of hours or days, or percentages of time spent (as outlined below) are requirements which must be met within the (4) four years preceding one's application for membership; also, such requirements apply in each instance to the production and/or distribution of nationally-exhibited audio visual works.

Active Status:

Primary professional function and on-air credits in the area of television documentary, informational or other nonfiction nationally-exhibited content.

Applicants will have worked for at least two (2) years in one of the following job categories (with creative input) including but not limited to:

  • COORDINATING PRODUCER
  • EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
  • FIELD PRODUCER
  • LINE PRODUCER
  • PRODUCER
  • HOST/PERFORMER
  • SENIOR PRODUCER
  • SEGMENT PRODUCER/DIRECTOR
  • STORY EDITOR
  • SUPERVISING PRODUCER
  • WRITER

Associate Status:

Primary professional employment and on-air credits in the areas named above for at least 6 months full-time for nationally-exhibited content in one of the job categories listed above
or

Teachers of Broadcast Journalism, Documentary or other Non-Fiction production at the college or university level.
