On the exterior of the building, workers have prepared the underpinning for the "eyebrow" of the building, the distinctive bands around the top and middle of the structure. Glass has been installed along the exterior, making for a light-filled interior.

The side elevation of the building shows the load-in opening in the center of the second story, as well as the rooftop mechanical screen, hiding heating and air conditioning equipment. The main entrance into the lobby will be in the lower right corner.

Rounding the corner from the academy center parking structure, the dramatic south side façade is taking shape with its cantilevered second story overhang.

The area between the current Academy building and the new construction is being prepared for the Hall of Fame sculpture garden, which will showcase the relief sculptures and busts formerly displayed on the Goldenson Theatre building and around the plaza. What is now simply a graded area will become a tranquil garden once landscaping and hardscaping have been completed.

The future plaza shows one of the many environmentally-friendly aspects of the construction. The fenced portion near the center of the photo is the new water filtration pit, part of the Academy's LEED certification. The plaza will also contain a circular driveway, landscaping and the return of the iconic 19-foot Emmy statue.

Inside, the theater is taking shape. Pictured here is the stage right exit and hallway leading to the theater's green room, pocket studio, and storage areas. Every square inch of the space is being put to good use.

What was once graded dirt has become tiered theater seating. Above the rows awaiting their 600 seats, scaffolding supports what the construction crew calls the "dance floor," the platform from which they build the actual ceiling for the theater. Ceiling construction includes installation of the sound system, lights, sprinklers, and the HVAC system.

The theater stage from apron to the backstage area nears completion, waiting for carpeting, lights, and other equipment.

Walls are in place, marking the corridor and gently sloping walkway guests will traverse to enter the new theater at the mid-level seating section.

The interior stairway is in place leading from the media center's wrap-around lobby to the second floor.  Behind the stairway, the elevator will take guests to the theater's lower level and green room, and upstairs to the conference center and foundation office suite.

On the second floor, the open office area outside the Television Academy Foundation suite has been enclosed in glass, overlooking the plaza and the main Academy office building.

The Governors' Room in the new upstairs conference center is a large, flexible space for meetings, lectures, panels, and screenings. Like the rest of the building, it will be completely wired to send and receive broadcasts from the theater, the studios, and other areas of the structure. It can be configured to host small, intimate gatherings or full capacity receptions.
