TELEVISION ACADEMY FOUNDATION AND
SONY PICTURES EXPAND
DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM AT WEST LA COLLEGE
President of Sony Pictures Television Steve Mosko to Speak with Students
North Hollywood, CA The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation has expanded their Sony Pictures Entertainment Student Diversity Fellowship program from two to four Fellows.
Terri Clark,
Executive Director of the Television Academy Foundation, said the Fellowship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in West Los Angeles Community College with in-depth understanding of professional television production, techniques and practices.
Sony has doubled the program’s capacity this year, pursuant to the program’s successful debut in 2007.
In addition, Steve Mosko, President of Sony Pictures Television, will visit the campus of West Los Angeles Community College on April 1 to speak with students directly and encourage them to apply for the Fellowship. Through hands-on experience, the students will observe facets of the television business which include marketing, program development, production and business development.
“It’s always a humbling honor when you have a hand in the development of these students’ lives and careers and the future of the entertainment industry,” Mosko said. “Due to last year’s success, we are able to expand the program from two Fellows to four this year.”
“My Fellowship was definitely a wonderful and priceless experience,” 2007 Fellow Kentin Sylvestre shared. “After it ended, I was back in school and out of work. But little did I know that I would be offered a full-time position back at Sony Pictures Television as a media relations assistant, an offer I wouldn’t have received if I hadn’t had the experience of the Fellowship.”
This year’s application deadline for the Sony Pictures Entertainment Student Diversity Program is Friday, April 18, 2007. Fellows will receive a stipend during the full-time, eight-week program and will take part in regularly scheduled events for both the Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Television Academy Foundation’s existing Summer Internship programs, including panel discussions, seminars and special events.
