Michael A. Hoey, John Moffitt and Spike Jones, Jr. Return to Produce
Show to be Held on Saturday, August 19 at the Shrine Auditorium

North Hollywood, CA, August 1, 2006 –Comedy magic duo, Penn & Teller will host the 2006 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards on Saturday, August 19 from the historic Shrine Auditorium, it was announced today by Spike Jones Jr., producer of the Creative Arts Show.

In addition, Jones, along with executive producers Michael A. Hoey and John Moffitt will return to produce the show, as a team, for the ninth year.

"Penn & Teller are one of the most unique and talented performers who defy labels and their genre of magic and offbeat humor will no doubt provide us with one mind-boggling show," said Jones.  "They have a remarkable 30 year career that ranges from stage to television and as a fan, I look forward to working with them on the Creative Arts show.

Since first teaming up in 1975, when they combined Teller's silent, occasional creepy magic with Penn's clown college education and juggling expertise, the two have created an entertainment success story that went from the streets to the small clubs to national theaters to a current multi-year engagement in Las Vegas. In 1985, Penn & Teller were receiving rave reviews for their Off-Broadway show and Emmy award-winning PBS Special, "Penn & Teller Go Public."  The first of more than 20 appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman” soon followed, along with appearances on a wide range of television: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Miami Vice,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Hollywood Squares,” “The Today Show,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Friends,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Home Improvement,” and one of television’s most honored rolls: animated guests on “The Simpsons.”

They also created their own television projects, including “Penn & Teller’s Sin City Spectacular,” “Penn & Teller’s Home Invasion,” the Showtime movie “Penn & Teller’s Invisible Thread,” and the NBC specials “Don’t Try This at Home” and “Penn & Teller: Off The Deep End.”  Their latest project, “Penn & Teller: Bullshit!”  for the Showtime network, is in its fourth season.  The controversial show, which has received 9 Emmy nominations, including three in 2006, and the 2004 WGA award for Outstanding Comedy/Variety Series, tackles the frauds and fakes behind such topics as talking to the dead, alien abductions and feng shui.

This is Jones' 12th year as producer of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.  Through his company SJ2 Entertainment, he has established himself as a leading player in the areas of awards shows and live TV variety shows.  He produced award ceremonies for The Museum of Television & Radio in both New York and Los Angeles as well as the live red carpet arrivals for the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards and Spike TV's Video Game Awards Arrivals and After Bash.  Jones has a long line of credits with the major networks and has also produced and directed projects for HBO, Showtime, A&E Networks, MTV, VH1, The History Channel, Spike TV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and TV Land.  Currently, he is executive producing Animal Atlas, an MGM syndicated series.

Writer/director/editor Michael A. Hoey is a previous four-term Governor of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  He has been nominated for two Emmys and has won a Media Award for writing and an A.C.E. Eddie Award for editing. He is also the recipient of the Morgan Cox Award from the Writers Guild for his services to the Guild. Hoey has produced five annual Writers Guild Awards in addition to his chores as one of the Executive Producers of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for the past nine years. His book, Elvis, Sherlock and Me: How I Survived Growing Up in Hollywood, which highlights both his and his father's careers in Hollywood, will be published later this year.

John Moffitt, also a Governor of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recently co-executive produced the TBS comedy special on global warming awareness, "Earth to America," and was nominated for an Emmy for directing HBO's comedy special "Bill Maher: Victory Begins at Home." He also directed “The Hollow Men,” a sketch comedy series for Comedy Central.  In addition, Moffitt, along with partner Pat Tourk Lee, has produced two Primetime Emmy Awards shows and won an Emmy for directing one of them. Since 1986, Moffitt and Lee have produced all eight Comic Relief shows featuring a veritable "who's who" of comedy hosted by Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robin Williams.

The 2006 Creative Arts Awards will present Emmys in 73 categories including those given for Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Reality Series.  In addition, the Engineering Awards and the Interactive Media Awards will also be announced during this year’s show.
