North Hollywood, CA, March 15, 2006 Sunday, May 14, marked a big moment in the history of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation’s Archive of American Television. After less than seven months of access on Google Video, the Television Archive passed the one million mark.
On October 26, 2005, the Television Academy Foundation and Google announced a joint effort to make the Foundation’s Archive of American Television interviews available for free viewing on Google Video.
This historic collection includes interviews with such renowned television figures as Alan Alda, Dick Wolf, Steven Bochco and dozens of the medium’s other greats.
As of yesterday, over a million segments have now been viewed, either partially or in their entirety, by television history enthusiasts worldwide.
How are we celebrating this milestone? By finding ways to keep the content coming, and by continuing to film interviews with television’s movers and shakers.
Just last week, the Television Archive traveled to New York City to interview HBO documentary executive Sheila Nevins, USA Network founder Kay Koplovitz, Court TV host Dominick Dunne, former Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan, first female network news anchor Marlene Sanders and former ABC president Frederick S. Pierce.
Help us reach our billionth! Visit the official Television Archive blog for a complete list of the interviews availableand then post your comments or e-mail us at archive@emmys.org with your rants and raves about what you've seen so far.
