About Scholarship Recipient Tracy Pereira
Tracy Pereira is the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship recipient in the area of Production. Ms. Pereira, originally from India, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business at the University of Mumbai in India in 2002.
In addition to her Bachelor’s Degree in Business, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Broadcasting from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2006. Currently, she is working on her Master’s in Film and Media Arts at Temple University.
Ms. Pereira’s goal upon graduation is to develop an online space for children and youth to interact on a global scale, combining the elements of video diaries and blogs.
About Scholarship Recipient Nicole Martins
Nicole Martins is the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship recipient in the area of Research. Ms. Martins received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2002.
In the fall of 2002, Ms. Martins entered the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Illinois to receive her Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Speech Communications. Ms. Martins has received her Master’s Degree and is now completing her Doctorate program.
Upon graduation, Ms. Martins would like to further her research in two areas: firstly, regarding whether social aggression in television programming becomes contextualized; and secondly, Ms. Martins would like to determine if there is a correlation between a child’s exposure to social aggression on television and their classroom behavior.
