Tammy Grimes

Tammy Grimes was a singer and actress best known for originating the title role in The Unsinkable Molly Brown on Broadway. Grimes won her first of two Tonys in 1961 for the role, winning her second for her role in the 1970 revival of Private Lives.

Grimes also appeared in films and on television, including roles on the series The Virginian, Route 66, Burke’s Law, Tarzan, The Love Boat, St. Elsewhere, The Equalizer and The Young Riders, as well as the anthology series The United States Steel Hour, Studio One in Hollywood, Kraft Theatre, Omnibus and Play of the Week.

Additionally, she appeared in the films Play It As It Lays, Can’t Stop the Music, America, Slaves of New York, A Modern Affair, Trouble on the Corner, High Art and Backstreet Justice.

Grimes died October 30, 2016, in Englewood, New Jersey. She was 82.
