He won the dramatic nod in 1990 for his turn as Truman Capote in the tour de force, one-man show, American Playhouse: Tru.

The PBS presentation of Tru later earned Morse a 1993 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Special as well.

Morse made his film debut in 1956’s The Proud and Profane. In addition to reprising his Tony-winning role in the 1967 film version of How to Succeed in Business for director David Swift, Morse also appeared as Walter Matthau’s philandering buddy and advisor in the Gene Kelly-directed A Guide for the Married Man, among other films.

Along with his recurring role as Bertram Cooper, a founding partner in the fictional advertising agency Sterling Cooper on AMC's Mad Men, Morse's other television credits include a continuing role on medical drama City of Angels and numerous memorable guest appearances.

Morse died April 20, 2022, in Los Angeles, California. He was 90.
