Patrice Munsel
Patrice Munsel was an actress and singer best known for becoming one of the Metropolitan Opera’s youngest stars when, at age 17, she won a competition put on by the renowned opera company. She went on to perform a total of 225 times at the Met, before working in television, film and musical theater.
Munsel appeared as an actress on the shows Omnibus, The Alcoa Hour, Checkmate, The Wild Wild West and The Red Skelton Hour. She also performed on shows hosted by Dinah Shore, Perry Como, Steve Allen, Garry Moore, Ed Sullivan, Merv Griffin, Jerry Lewis, Art Linkletter, Johnny Carson, Dean Martin and Mike Douglas.
Additionally, she performed on Your Show of Shows, Texaco Star Theatre, The Colgate Comedy Hour, What’s My Line, To Tell the Truth, I’ve Got a Secret and Gypsy.
From 1957 to 1958, Munsel had her own series, The Patrice Munsel Show, which featured the opera star exhibiting her versatility as a singer, performing show tunes, pop songs and appearing in comedy sketches.

Munsel died August 4, 2016, in Schroon Lake, New York. She was 91.
