Om Puri was an Indian actor who starred in more than 100 Bollywood films, as well as British and American movies and the occasional television production.

Born in the northern Indian state of Haryana, Puri attended the Film and Television Institute of India and the National School of Drama. He made his film debut in the 1975 release Kalla Kalla Bachitko and never stopped working for the next four decades. Indeed, it was not uncommon for him to appear in five to 10 Bollywood productions in a single year.

In addition, he had roles in the television projects Jewel in the Crown and The Canterbury Tales.

Forhis contributions to the arts and culture, he received an honorary Order of the British Empire designation and the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India.

Puri dided on January 6, 2017, in Mumbai, India. He was 66.
