Michael Gershman

Michael Gershman was an American cinematographer and television director.

Gershman was best known for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Crossing Jordan, working as cinematographer and director on both series.

Gershman began working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer from the beginning in 1997, and continued through its fifth season in 2001. He made his directorial debut on “Passion,” the 17th episode of the second season, and went to direct nine more episodes. He received an Emmy nomination in 2000 for outstanding cinematography for a single camera series for his work on the episode “Hush.”

Gershman’s film credits include The Deer Hunter, The Rose, Heaven’s Gate, The Golden Child, Midnight Run, Die Hard 2, Say Anything…, and Losing Isaiah.

Gershman died March 10, 2018, in Malibu, California. He was 73.
