Johnny Duncan was an actor best known for his role as Robin the Boy Wonder in 1949’s Batman and Robin. The movie followed the caped crusaders as they battled against the Wizard, a black-hooded mastermind.

Duncan played Robin/Dick Grayson in the 15-chapter serial, opposite Robert Lowery as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

He also appeared on television, including roles on the series The Stu Erwin Show, The Ford Television Theatre, Public Defender, The Cisco Kid and Whirlybirds.

In feature films, he most frequently appeared in small, uncredited roles, including parts in the movies Call of the Canyon, with Gene Autry; Action in the North Atlantic, starring Humphrey Bogart; Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, starring Spencer Tracy; The Horn Blows at Midnight, with Jack Benny; From This Day Forward, with Joan Fontaine; Trail to San Antone, with Autry; It Had to Be You, with Ginger Rogers; Good Sam, starring Gary Cooper; Take One False Step, with Shelley Winters; Summer Stock, with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly; Bedtime for Bonzo, starring Ronald Reagan; David and Bathsheba, with Gregory Peck; Off Limits, with Bob Hope and Mickey Rooney; Miss Sadie Thompson, with Rita Hayworth; The Wild One, starring Marlon Brando; The Caine Mutiny, with Bogart; and his final credit, in Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus, starring Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier and Jean Simmons.

The Kansas-born actor got his start as a tap dancer, touring with acts that included the Will Mastin Trio, which featured Sammy Davis Jr. and his father. He was later discovered by a talent scout, and he and his whole family moved to Hollywood.

Duncan died February 8, 2016, in Davenport, Florida. He was 92.
