Gordon Davidson
Gordon Davidson was the artistic director of the Mark Taper Forum. He served as director for nearly 40 years, helping to establish Los Angeles as a West Coast capital of regional theater.
Davidson helped develop and premiere plays including In the Matter of J. Robert Oppenheimer, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, The Shadow Box, Children of a Lesser God and Tony Kushner’s Angels in America.
He also directed the 1972 film The Trial of Catonsville Nine, as well as the 1977 television movie The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald.
Additionally, he helmed an episode of the anthology series Visions, directing a 1980 installment titled “It’s the Willingness,” about three families surviving the Great Depression in the Appalachian Mountains.
