Frank Barron

Frank Barron was a writer best known for his work as the editor of The Hollywood Reporter from 1964 to 1968, and again in the late 1970s.

Barron also wrote for television, and created the Western series The Man from Blackhawk, about the adventures of an insurance investigator. The series starred Robert Rockwell and aired for one season (1959-60) and 37 episodes, before ending because of a writers' strike.

He also collaborated with Duke Ellington in 1959 on a revival of his famous Jump for Joy musical revue with actress-singer Barbara McNair. Additionally, Barron wrote Woody Woodpecker cartoons and Hanna-Barbera storylines for Joseph Barbera’s shows.

Barron later appeared in the 1980 film The Man With Bogart's Face, written and produced by his friend Andrew J. Fenady.

He also freelanced for publications including emmy magazine and The Tolucan Times; and was a contributing editor for Production Update magazine.

Barron died October 23, 2017, in Sherman Oaks, California. He was 98.
